Meet Jody. Mama, Designer & Maker behind super cool, Australian Pyjama label, Moodie. A sleepwear collection that is all kinds of bedtime fun. It’s bright, bold and screams ‘awesome’. The kind of loungewear styled PJ’s that are totally acceptable for a lay-day at home, and I mean all day.
A native New Yorker with a background in textile design, Jody identified a gap in the market for convenient, easy to wear pyjamas. With the birth of her daughter (her mini muse, Juno), Jody sought the perfect sleepwear combination. High quality fabrication, contemporary, creative designs that would last through the wash, spiking fevers & bed-wetting. Brilliantly bright, unique and fun – PJ’s to reflect her daughters’ personality.
Jody is inspired by everything. Her surroundings, her every day life as a Mum. Her latest collection came about when her daughter Juno declared she wanted to ‘Fly like a bird & buzz like a bee’. The light bulb flickered and Jody went on to create ‘Flight In Motion’ the soon to be released ‘FW16′ range for Moodie.
As a fairly new sleepwear brand, Jody is focused on keeping the range fearless and fresh. A strong emphasis on quality & comfort. Moodie prides itself on its 100% pre-washed jersey cotton knit fabrics. Nothing but the best.
And for the future? Well watch this space. There may just be a range for teens and Mamas – who doesn’t love a little ‘matchy matchy’ bedtime apparel. I asked Jody her advice for others out there with a ‘killer idea or product’ looking to get started?
‘Go for it! Pursue your dreams always, just make sure you do your research extensively and have a concrete plan in place before starting. Know what your strengths are and know what others can do better and invest with that in mind. Your product is only half the battle. If people don’t know it exists or can’t find it, then it will not sell. Marketing and PR, is the other half of the battle’.
Very wise words from Jody. So what does she do when not designing awesome sleepwear?
She eats (she’s 6months pregnant) yay! She loves entertaining with family & friends, exploring new places or jumping out of a plane. Yes, she’s one of those extreme sport adrenaline junkies. This is her blood pumping, energy flowing source of magic. One seriously cool Mama to boot.
